The Long Vacation

About

The Long Vacation initially came about whilst I was recovering from surgery, as I explored ways to spend my time more constructively however it eventually grew to become something far more fulfilling. I had long been an admirer of traditional western tattoo art and the artistic endeavours of numerous artists and I was inspired to begin my own journey.

I experimented with a few different mediums and materials before finding techniques and processes that worked for my. My work evolved to primarily focus on lino cuts which I hand print, mostly using hand made, recycled or wood free papers. I found lino printing allowed me to explore my creativity, to engage with others and opened new avenues for me to enjoy and share something positive.

It has taken some time to really develop my work and having now expanded my creative range to include wood cuts and custom skateboards I have found something I am really passionate about. I particularly love the carving process find that it helps me to focus my mind and channel myself positively.

I draw my inspiration from a variety of sources however traditional tattoo art is a major influence however my love for music and skateboarding can often be found in my work.

It is important to me that my artwork has a low environmental impact and where possible ecological values remain at the core of the work. The majority of the paper used is handmade from renewable and sustainable sources (e.g t-shirt off cuts) and where possible all packaging is either made from recycled materials, can be recycled or is bio-degrable (including the plastic used to package my A5 prints).
